Department of Transportation Grants Canada Jetlines Authority to Service U.S. Routes

The new, all-Canadian leisure airline, Canada Jetlines Operations Ltd., is happy to announce that the US Department of Transportation has awarded economic approval to serve the US. This exemption is now in effect, and a long-term foreign air carrier permit will take its place. Prior to beginning service to the United States, Canada Jetlines must receive approval from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The company anticipates that this procedure will be finished before the end of the year. The announcement comes after Canada Jetlines announced that beginning in December 2022, a new route will depart from its hub at Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) and provide direct service to Vancouver International Airport (YVR). The new service, which runs twice weekly with frequency increasing before the New Year, connects the lower mainland and southern Ontario in an effort to make domestic travel inside Canada more accessible.

“We are looking forward to expanding our international network, as the U.S. is a top market for Canadian travelers, With the winter months fast approaching, we know sun destinations will be a priority for leisure travel and we intend to announce our first international destination later this month.”

Eddy Doyle, President & CEO of Canada Jetlines.

This new Vancouver service will supplement the airline’s existing weekly flights from Toronto (YYZ) to Calgary (YYC) departing at 7:55 a.m. (EST) on Thursdays and Sundays. The flight departs Calgary (YYC) at 10:10 MST and arrives in Toronto (YYZ) at 11:40 MST (17:20 EST). When working directly with Canada Jetlines, preferred travel agents can earn up to 10% commission on all base tickets when customers book vacation packages with them.
